The gift card winner is: Carol! Thanks for your comments!
It’s release week for Spring Chickens and I am doing a happy dance. If you haven’t heard my crowing already, here’s the 4-1-1: Trade Paperback can be ordered NOW! Digital versions and all outlets other than the Wild Rose Press Bookstore will release Friday, April 27th!
Whew!
An author once told me she gets ‘the jitters’ each time she has a new release hit the shelves, despite having over a dozen titles out there. She’s not the only one.
This never gets old. Each release is exciting and terrifying at the same time. Like a first date without the pointless rambling and the possibility of spilling food down the front of my shirt. (Which I will do anyway, but you won’t see it so it won’t count against me.)
I can’t help but wonder if you’ll like my writing. Will you fall for Lynne and Bram the way I did? Will there be a second read? What if I never hear from you again?
Oh, the hand wringing!
Just like dating, all I can do is put myself out there and hope we connect on some level.
Spring Chickens is a different sort of story for me. My hero and heroine are a little older, a bit wiser, and a whole lot warier than they were when they were young, but in a way it’s much more optimistic than anything I’ve written before. I know authors (and mothers) are not supposed to have favorites, but…Shh. Don’t tell the others.
Desert island time! If you had to pick only one book (no cheating and naming a series!) by your favorite author, which would be your favorite and why?
One lucky commenter will win a $20 gift card to the online bookstore of their choice! Winner will be drawn on Sunday, April 29th at 6PM US-Central time. Please tell your friends!
I’ve been pondering over this for probably far longer than I should. It’s a hard question! Should I take along an old favorite?(Garden Spells.) Something from my childhood? (Anything by Laura Ingalls Wilder.) Does my one volume containing 3 Anne Tyler titles count as one? Should I take along the book I just started so that it doesn’t drive me crazy not knowing the ending? (Lost in a Good Book.) I know you said no series but could I take all of Good at/Middle Management/Packaged Goods with me? I mean, that would last me a long time! Or maybe I should just take along a huge supply of paper and lots of pens so that I’d be finally forced to write a story of my own?
I think I’ll wait and take Spring Chickens with me. (Don’t tell Ellie and Jack, but it’s my favorite too.) That way I’ll have your picture to keep me company AND a fabulous story to read! (That would be so much better than Wilson, right?)
And don’t worry — everyone is going to love this one! Congratulations on having another wonderful book to put on your shelf!
SOOO hard! You took my loop hole by not picking a series!
I think I’d pick Voyager by Diana Gabaldon. I just adore that book! I wish it was pick my top 5 books? Oh Oh, I have a Kindle so that is one device and it could hold ALL my books. Is that a loop hole? no?
Best of luck for your amazing new book. I can’t wait to read it and feature it on my blog shortly.

I’m so excited for you! I get the jitters each time you release a new book too! 😉
This question is WAY too easy. I would choose the as of yet unreleased title Inamorata by my favourite author, Margaret Ethridge. I think you might know her. Why would I choose that? Because it’s hot, it has Frank n Gina, and it’s the greatest thing I’ve read in my entire life!
Thanks for the Sophie’s Choice drama I now have going on in my brain!
I’ll choose Outlander. I can’t resist Jamie and Claire falling in love. 🙂
And PS, congrats on Release Week! Go Mags. 🙂
Lavyrle Spencer’s Bittersweet. I remember going through the stage of reading all things Danielle Steele and becoming eventually bored with the style of it. I wanted someone different and I happened to go to the library reading backcovers on romance novels. I liked what I read. It was such a good book about starting over. I loved the setting of the book. It was great storytelling. After that. I pretty much read all her stuff.
Congrats on Chickens, my dear. You know how much I love the book. Even if those 50 year olds do a lot of kissin’
I’m so in love with Lynne and Bram! So excited that I can finally hold a copy in my hands! Many congrats and hugs and smooches to you! I’m incredibly proud of you!
I have many book loves. A favorite book would have to be one I could reread and never get tired of. Hmmm, would it be Gone With the Wind? Garden Spells? The Girl Who Chased the Moon? Lord of the Rings? Pride and Prejudice? Spring Chickens is definitely on my list of favorites. That’s such a hard decision! I guess I’ll make my decision on the one I have read the most. I’ve read Garden Spells three times so far. The quirky characters, the subtle magic, the small town are all reasons why I love this book. 🙂
